On May 11, 2024, our school hosted an enlightening talk by renowned dietician Ms. Anvita Chatwal, focusing on healthy eating habits and mental well-being. The event was attended by the Vice Principal, along with students and teachers from grades 6 to 9.
Ms. Chatwal began by emphasizing the significance of a balanced diet, highlighting the essential nutrients required for adolescent growth and development. She explained the benefits of incorporating a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins into daily meals. Additionally, she stressed the importance of staying hydrated and recommended that students drink at least eight glasses of water a day to enhance concentration and energy levels.
A significant portion of the talk was dedicated to the connection between diet and mental health. Ms. Chatwal discussed how certain foods can influence mood and mental clarity, advising students to avoid excessive sugar and caffeine. She encouraged the consumption of foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which support brain health. The concept of mindful eating was also introduced to help students be more aware of their eating habits, promoting better digestion and reduced overeating.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students and teachers asked insightful questions about diet and nutrition. The Vice Principal thanked Ms. Chatwal for her informative session and encouraged students to apply the knowledge gained to improve their daily eating habits and mental well-being.
