CHARTING THE UNCHARTED: A MENTORSHIP PROGRAM FOR TEACHERS
“A mentoring relationship provides a developmental opportunity for both parties and can thus be of mutual benefit.”
Sacred Heart Convent International School organized a one-day staff orientation and mentoring programme for teachers on 17th March 2023 to provide professional guidance to both old and the new members of the family.
The orientation program began by invoking the blessings of God, followed by the welcome of Ms. Reetika Grover and Mr. Naren Nagarajan-mentors for the session, who graced the occasion with their presence.
Ms. Reetika’s fun filled session encouraged the teachers to adopt dynamic, intriguing and experience-based strategies and activities for creative and active learning. The session was very energetic and engaged all the participants with various games and activities like pink toe, energisers, circle time, word game and many more.
She also gave guidelines to the teachers to prepare the young learners for 21st century by focusing on their holistic development.
Mr. Naren, was quite interactive. He started the session with Why’s, What’s and How’s of the new advancements and procedures that the teachers need to follow in order to be more effective with their teaching and skill building. Both his academic knowledge and personal anecdotes inspired, and enlightened the teachers.
He touched upon major issues like backward integration, cross-curricular assessment, High order thinking, knowledge of local contexts and cultures, metacognitions and the introduction and use of Artificial Intelligence in the teaching-learning process.
He also gave a special counselling session to the students, who have registered for AS-A levels, adding up another feather to the cap of SHCIS, as the upper secondary batch.
It was indeed a fruitful and productive session which infused the teachers with a new zeal and enthusiasm to start afresh.
